REQUIRED VIDEO AUDITION CONTENT
(VHS or DVD ONLY)
 
All candidates must be of the age stated on the 31st August in the year in which they intend to start the course, in September.

UPPER SCHOOL (SENIOR)
Candidates aged 16 – 18 years inclusive
(Ages as at 31st August on the year of intended entry).

1. Photos: One close-up shot of face and figure in 5 (4 x boys) positions as per photograph
requirements stated on application form.

2. Barre Work
Please position the camera in front of the applicant to show FULL height and breadth in pliés and ports de bras. Please position the camera halfway between front and side for all other sections of the barre to show full range of movements. Left and right sides of all exercises must be shown.

 
Fifteen minutes (in total) of Barre Work to cover:
a)  pliés and ports de bras
b)  tendus and glissés
c)  ronds de jambe à terre and en l’air
d)  adage with fondus
e)  grands battements and battements en cloche
 
3. Centre Practice
 
Fifteen minutes (maximum) of Centre Practice, Adage and Pirouettes
a)  Centre Practice must show battement tendu combined with battement tendu jeté in croisé, en face effacé, devant and derrière
b)  Adage must include grands ronds de jambe, a promenade in either à la seconde or arabesque, and a penché in 1st arabesque
c)  Pirouettes may be from 5th, 2nd, or 4th position, but must be done on the right and the left sides, en dehors and en dedans
 
4. Allegro
 
Fifteen minutes (maximum) of Allegro to cover:
a)  one enchaînment terre à terre (quick steps)
b)  one enchaînment showing batterie
c)  one enchaînment showing travelling jumps including waltzing
 
5. Pointe Work
 
Five minutes (minimum) of Pointe Work to include:
a)  simple échappé relevé in 2nd and 4th, retiré relevé and passé relevé
b)  simple pirouettes from 4th position
c)  courus en diagonale
d)  diagonale of piqué turns
 
6. Solo
Classical solo to be included if possible (at end of video)
 
BOYS

Numbers 1 - 4 inclusive & number 6 (at end of video) plus:
a) tour en l'air, single or double

 
 
LOWER SCHOOL (JUNIOR)
Candidates aged 12 - 15 years inclusive
(Aged between 12 YEARS and 15 YEARS 11 MONTHS as at the 31st AUGUST on the year of intended entry).
 
1. Uniform:
  Girls - sleeveless leotard, tights and usual ballet shoes.
Boys - black tights, close-fitting whiteT-shirt and usual ballet shoes
 
2. Photos:
  Close-up shot of face, and figure in 4 positions as per photochart.
 
3. BARRE WORK
  Ten minutes (in total) of barre work to cover:
 
 
a)  Pliés (demi and full)
b)  Tendus and battement tendu jeté (glissé ) in all directions
c)  Ronds de jambe a terre
d)  Adage (ie developpé)
e)  Grands battements en croix – in 2 counts for each movement
f) Cambré (bends)
   
(Please position the camera in front of the applicant to show full height and breadth in pliés and tendus. Please position the camera halfway between front and side for all other sections of the barre to show the full range of movement.
 
4. CENTRE WORK
  Simple pirouettes en dehors with any preparation (only if they have already been taught).
 
5.
Ten minutes (in total) of allegro to cover:
a)  one enchâinment terre à terre
b)  one enchâinment showing a simple batterie
c)  one enchâinment showing big jumps and flowing movements
 
6. GIRLS Five minutes (in total) of pointe work (if taught) at the barre only: rises, relevés, in 1st, 2nd and 5th positions.
   
7. OPTIONAL A short demi character dance of 2 minutes or less duration.
   
   
LOWER SCHOOL (JUNIOR)
Candidates aged 11 years
(aged 11 YEARS only (under 12 years) as at the 31st AUGUST on year of intended entry).
 
1. Uniform:
Girls - sleeveless leotard, usual ballet shoes
Boys - ballet shorts or footless tights, fitted white t-shirt, vest or leotard, usual ballet shoes.
 
2. Photos:
One close-up shot of face, and figure in 4 positions as per photochart.
 
3. BARRE WORK
 
Ten minutes (in total) of barre work to show:
 
a)  Plies (demi and full)
b)  Tendus (4 front, 4 side, 4 back and 4 side).
c)  Battement tendu jeté (glissés) (4 front , 4 side, 4 back and 4 side).
d)  Grand battements en croix (in 4 counts for each movement).
e)  Cambrés (bends) - sideways, forwards and backwards.
 
4. CENTREWORK
 
 
a)  Simple ports de bras.
b)  Battement tendu combined with relevé lent.
c)  1st Arabesque à terre de coté.
d)  Sautés in 1st and 2nd positions,en face.
e)  Balancé de cote in a series.
f) Polkas en diagonale.
 
5. A short demi-character dance of 2 minutes or less duration.
