21 June - A Magical Midsummer's Night
A sell-out audience of 200 people filled the Margot Fonteyn Studio Theatre at White Lodge last night - a balmy Summer Solstice evening - to witness a unique artistic collaboration. As part of this year’s Petersham Festival, the world famous Danish-born instrumentalist Michala Petri, accompanied by Lars Hannibal on guitar and lute, joined students of The Royal Ballet School on stage to perform a selection of dance and music. The highlight of the evening was the performance of a specially created collaborative ballet entitled Scheindienst Variations choreographed by White Lodge ballet teacher Antonio Castilla and which featured four Royal Ballet School students performing together with our distinguished Danish guests. Proceeds from A Magical Midsummer’s Night are in support of The Royal Ballet School.
