Steven McRae at Outreach Programme’s Super Sunday for boys

Royal Ballet Principal Dancer Steven McRae was special guest teacher at the School’s Super Sunday for boys on 10 October. More than 20 boys aged 15-19 from every part of the UK came to the Upper School in Covent Garden to join Steven, himself a former student of The Royal Ballet School. The sessions, which were also attended by four Royal Ballet Upper School students, included an afternoon repertoire class, based on the Colas solo from Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée. The day concluded with a gathering of all participants which saw Steven at the centre of some lively questions posed by the participating boys.

Over the past few years, the Outreach Programme’s Super Sundays have welcomed many great names from the international ballet world including Carlos Acosta, Tamara Rojo and Francesca Zumbo. Super Sundays continue to attract young dancers of all levels of ability from throughout the UK and to share with them the benefits of The Royal Ballet School’s system of training and offer young dancers the rare opportunity of learning from great artists and excellent teachers.
