White Lodge opens its doors for special Insight Day

More than 180 people, made up of state school students and the general public, attended an Insight Day at the Lower School, White Lodge on Wednesday 3 November for a glimpse behind the scenes of The Royal Ballet School. Insight Days represent just one strand of the work of the School’s Dance Partnership and Access Programme which is designed to introduce ballet to as many members of the general public as possible. The event was free of charge, and also included the opportunity of visiting The White Lodge Museum and Ballet Resource Centre.

A student from Kingston College said: 'I'd never seen ballet before and will definitely watch it again!'

A member of the public said: 'It was a really motivational day - The Royal Ballet School staff are really passionate about the importance of the history of the School and the building.'

Through its carefully designed projects, The Dance Partnership and Access Programme engages each year with approximately 5,500 people, most of whom will have had no previous experience of ballet.
