Remembrance Day, Thursday 11 November

The Royal Ballet School was represented by a group of Upper School students at the Royal British Legion event at Trafalgar Square on 11 November. Several Year 12 students, some of whom are studying World War l literature as part of their A-level English, were accompanied by Head of English, Suzanne Gunton. This moving event drew many hundreds of people to Trafalgar Square and was broadcast on national TV.

The students were welcomed by TV presenter Ben Shepherd.

At White Lodge, Remembrance Day was marked in a simple but poignant ceremony. Students and staff took time out of lessons and gathered in the gardens to surround Year 10 student Gareth Haw who played The Last Post on his cornet.

Participating in Remembrance Day is part of the students' Citizenship studies, a programme designed to encourage students to reflect on, and to engage with, the wider world around them.
