Wayne Macgregor leads Choreographic Workshop at White Lodge
As part of the School’s annual prize-giving, The Ballet Principal’s Prize is normally awarded to an individual student for hard work and progress. Last year, the prize was awarded to the entire Year 7 group – a total of 24 students - in recognition of their hard work leading up to and during the School’s end-of year performances at the Royal Opera House in June and July 2010.
The prize gave the students, now studying at Year 8 level, the rare opportunity of participating in a special two hour workshop with British born choreographer Wayne McGregor, renowned the world over for his innovative, ground-breaking choreographic style. McGregor is Artistic Director of Random Dance and Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet.
