Royal Ballet School student to perform in world premiere of The Metamorphosis

Royal Ballet School student, Laura Day, is to perform alongside Royal Ballet Principal Dancer (and former RBS student) Edward Watson in a new dance-theatre version of Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis from 19-24 September at the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Rehearsals are currently underway in the studios of the Royal Opera House.

Based on Franz Kafka’s absurdist novella, The Metamorphosis will be realised for the stage by a strong creative team led by award-winning director and choreographer Arthur Pita and including original music by Frank Moon and lighting by Guy Hoare.

Kafka’s classic The Metamorphosis tells the nightmarish tale of travelling salesman Gregor Samsa (Edward Watson) who awakes to discover he has been transformed into a giant insect.

Laura, who is just about to enter the graduate year at The Royal Ballet Upper School, plays the role of Gregor Samsa’s younger sister, Grete, who becomes his caretaker after the metamorphosis.
