The Royal Ballet School Teacher Training Seminar in Tokyo

The Royal Ballet School has been invited by the President of Amazing Arts - Ms.Haruko Kawanishi - to present a Teacher Training Seminar in Tokyo from 14-16 December. Led by Director, Gailene Stock AM, a programme has been especially designed to offer up to 20 ballet educators from across Japan a comprehensive survey of key aspects of the unique system of training that contribute to The Royal Ballet School being widely regarded as one of the greatest centres of dance training in the world. Joining her for the Seminar will be the School’s Assistant Director, Jay Jolley and Head of Outreach and Teacher Training, Mark Annear together with two students from The Royal Ballet School, Luca Acri and Chisato Katsura.

The Teacher Training Seminar will start with a welcome by Gailene Stock on 14 December followed by seven sessions over three days touching on a variety of issues and useful topics such as The Foundations of Classical Ballet Technique, ‘Port de Bras’ and Artistry. Delegates will also benefit from learning about recent pedagogical developments in the School’s teacher training provision.

On each of the three days, more than 40 students aged 11-17 will also participate in a special masterclass and the Seminar will conclude with a demonstration by the two students from The Royal Ballet School.
