The Royal Ballet School’s guest appearance on A League of Their Own

Graduate-year students will make a guest appearance on SKY TV’s sports comedy hit A League of Their Own this Friday 14 December at 10pm. On the programme, students will be performing excerpts from The Nutcracker with Anna Rose O’Sullivan (graduate student who joined The Royal Ballet this month) offers advice to host James Corden.

The invitation to appear followed on from The Royal Ballet School’s support of some key developments within the professional sports world. The Royal Ballet School has been giving  advice to a number of distinguished sports bodies including Chelsea FC, Aston Villa FC, Liverpool FC not to mention the English Cricket Board, UK Sport (the body responsible for investing around £100 million of public money in high performance sport) and the RFU (the governing body of Rugby Union in England).

In the main, these bodies were keen to learn from The Royal Ballet School’s long experience of having developed its unique system of training, making it one of the world’s greatest centres of excellence in ballet training. Representatives from each were particularly keen to learn about The Royal Ballet School’s recruitment methods and procedures, the balance between dance training, academic pursuit, boarding facilities and pastoral support. There was much excitement about the School’s impressive six-year record of every graduating student obtaining a full-time contract.
