Focus on Style
Sunday 17 March 2013 saw the culmination of a landmark year-long series of five lectures and master classes exploring the European and Russian ballet schools, their influence on Ninette de Valois and the development of the ‘English’ style. Starting last September, sessions exploring the French, Italian, Danish and Russian styles were led by experts in each of these key subjects. Each looked at the traditions that influenced De Valois as she focused on creating a national ballet school for Great Britain.
The final session of the series, entitled The English School, was led by Anita Young, a former student and Royal Ballet Soloist and now teacher at The Royal Ballet Upper School.
