Royal Ballet School Students Perform at the Arts Club in Mayfair
On Monday, 29 April, students from The Royal Ballet Upper School participated in an Insight Evening at The Arts Club in Mayfair, for an audience invited by The Royal Ballet School’s Young Committee and Members of the Arts Club.
The performance took place in the nightclub which had been transformed into an intimate ballet studio. Eighty guests observed four graduate year students perform a short demonstration of exercises executed within a normal ballet class, from barre work to pointe exercises.
The demonstration was staged to raise awareness of The Royal Ballet School amongst a new generation of potential supporters and to encourage their involvement in the School.
Before retiring for drinks, the guests had the opportunity to ask the students questions on their daily routines; from diets to recreation; perception of the art form and the future they hope to achieve from their training at The Royal Ballet School. The demonstration was rehearsed and expertly compèred by their ballet teacher and former Royal Ballet First Soloist, Nicola Tranah.
